Understanding Frim Fram Design

Dressing for life...not for work...

reating your unique style not someone else's idea of fashion. Using recycled items in new ways. Herstory & History; clothing with a past, present and future.

Frim Fram Design is the what, where, who and how behind discovering your own style.

Basics:

Anything can be frim frammed.

        Clothing

        household items

        houses…

The techniques use simple math. Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.

So, what’s the catch?

The challenge is getting beyond personal barriers

Don't Miss a great opportunity

Monsters in the closet

What does my fear look and feel like? Does your ‘closet monster’ tell you, “I can’t do that.” Translation; I won’t do it because I’m afraid it won’t be right, and I’ll look foolish.  ...more

before...Cynthia cut the cuffs off she unearthed some surprise responses... perfectionism and fear were obstacles that had to be addressed. The outcome was amazing as you can see from these photos of Cynthia before and after her day of frim framing.during

"Thank you Judy for a fabulous, creative and inspiring day which I didn't want to end! The Frim Fram workshop immersed me in a creative flow that far exceeded my expectations. With your inspiration not only did I complete 3 pieces of clothing that mix and match, I was encouraged to release my perfectionist side which allowed a whole new expression to emerge. You truly are a catalyst for magic to happen (and "sew" much fun!") Thank you!

Fear Buster Exercise:

Cut off the cuffs of a shirt or jacket. Start with an old one or one from a thrift store. Will you put something on the raw edges to finish it off? Fringe? Another piece of fabric? Perhaps some beads. You can glue fabric on using “Unique Stitch” or sew by hand or machine. Will you try braiding the loose ends? Leave them loose? Anything goes… the goal is to get unstuck!

Cut through some fear… cut the perfectionism out…

Open up to new notions and ways of doing things. If cutting the cuff off is too radical you can begin by gluing or sewing another fabric onto the cuff or by adding trim over the cuff. You can even paint directly on it using acrylic paints. Go for it!
